Toolmaker review

You send the part out.
The change requests come back.

The toolmaker judges the part on its own: moldable or not. They don't see the OEM order or the parts it mates with, so some requests can't be done as asked, and the engineer is back in CAD sorting it out.

  • Draft on a grained face. Fair request.
  • Move the parting line onto a Class A face. Breaks the OEM order.
  • Swap a clip tower for a screw boss. Breaks the assembly.

Issue 1

Pivot holes need side actions

Risk
The vane pivot holes go through both side walls, across the pull. The tool needs a side action on each side to form them.
Fix
Open pivot forks inside the duct, formed by the front core. The vanes snap in from the front.

How a review works

From CAD to supplier-ready in one review.

Upload the part with its OEM order and its mating parts. DFMold checks it in that context, explains what won't mold, and proposes changes that keep the order and the fit.

Draft, wall thickness, undercuts and the lessons from your past T0 reports, checked against the real pull direction.

Old way vs. new way

Every loop back costs time and money.

Same part, same speed. The DFMold route skips the loops.

Old way: a redesign round adds weeks, a re-quote and new samples. A change after the steel is cut typically costs $2,000 to $20,000 and 2 to 6 weeks per change.

The fastest route to the most moldable design.

Catch it before the toolmaker does.

FAQ

Questions.

About the software and early access.

Who is DFMold for?

OEM product teams and engineers designing injection-molded plastic parts. If you work through moldability feedback with a toolmaker, this is the workflow we’re building for.

Does DFMold know the OEM requirements and the assembly?

Yes. You add the order spec (Class A faces, grain, material, tolerances) and the mating parts. Every check and every proposed change runs against them, and a change that would break the order or the fit is flagged.

What happens to my CAD files? Are they used to train models?

File handling, retention, and model-training terms need to be agreed before you share any CAD. We’ll discuss those requirements with your team during early-access onboarding. Joining this waitlist does not upload or share any design files.
